Painting Pitfalls

Difficult to tell here but these two receptacles are identical; except one has been painted! National Electrical Code does not allow for painted devices. While this spray job looks nice it is deceiving to show the age and potential for failure by coating internal parts. Some paint jobs fill the terminal spaces and make it difficult to insert cord ends as well. Don’t opt to paint outlets, replace them with proper tamper resistant new ones - you’ll be grateful in the end and have peace of mind 🔌
