Where’s your main breaker?

A main breaker to disconnect electrical power entering your property is required according to the National Electric Code. Most are located inside the panel itself, while others may be outside or even in a meter bank. But not all properties have been properly equipped with a main breaker. That means one single switch to disconnect power in the event of emergency. It can save lives and property from a multitude of dangerous conditions. Many older homes have services with panel boxes that include only a set of main lugs where the power cables are tightened down, and then energize a bus inside to distribute voltage (see photo) However when space is limited or breaker panels are neglected; many of these connections become compromised and result in loose connections or multiple wires jammed into the terminals without proper protection. These create surges and hot spots that heat up and can cause fire. These old panels in most cases are unserviceable and dangerous to add circuitry to. Our professionals can analyze and replace any system that is in need of main circuit breaker. We can upgrade your distribution service to make panels serviceable along with it’s components. If you suspect your equipment is faulty or dangerous give us a call, we’re here to help. 🔦
